Free East London Workshops for women affected by domestic violence2012 West London Workshops6th January Types of Domestic Violence
DV is not just physical. It can also be emotional, financial, spiritual, sexual and verbal. Women who’ve experienced abuse are often not believed when they say they’re being hurt even if they have the physical marks to prove it. Join us to learn more about power and control in your relationships. 13th January Mourning our losses Domestic violence can result in women losing friends, family, homes, children, health, peace and much more. Perhaps one of the saddest things to lose is the belief that the world is essentially fair and that the people who said they would help us, didn’t. Using very simple and gentle techniques we’ll explore what domestic violence caused us to lose with an aim of leaving some of the sadness behind us. 20th January Addressing the Violence
Whether you’re in a violent relationship or have left one (or more) violence can remain part of everyday life whether it’s watching violence in soap operas or in politics. We’ll be discussing how violence continues to affect our lives and how we can tackle it in a peaceful way
27th January How women like you have coped with abuse
Women have been abused whenever we have been treated as property. This workshop will take a look at the history of domestic violence and, more importantly, how women have coped with it, positively and negatively. Your own experience is part of this history and we can learn from each other too.
3rd February Unhappy Memories
Domestic violence can have the same emotional impact as war and terrorist attacks. Photographs, smells, a song can all overwhelm us and affect our lives, some of us only occasionally and for some of us in daily life. Memory is not fixed and psychotherapeutic techniques can be used to help cope with these memories and today we’ll be carefully and respectfully exploring how to do this together and on our own. East London Workshops Tuesday, 10th January 2012 Create an Empowering Vision for 2012 As we welcome a New Year this workshop will provide you with an opportunity to create an empowering vision of what we want to create in our life in 2011 and beyond.
